The next trend in travel?
Wellness travel with a dose of spa and self love.
Manic getaways are replaced by slower, more mindful experiences.
People will be coming out of “covid hybernation” and ready to reset their travel compass and point it towards self exploration and renewal. Conscious wellness travel will become the new buzzwords. We will challenge ourselves to experience newness as we test our inner limits.
I started traveling to different wellness destinations around the same time I became a spa owner, roughly two decades ago. I wanted to immerse myself in skincare and spa treatments from all over the world and infuse it into my treatment room.
Did you know that in some places physicians write prescriptions to their patients for wellness? No medicine necessary. I learned about this from my travels to Israel. Floating the dead sea helps to cure eczema, psoriasis and many other ailments of the body. They believe in preventive care. And, it makes total sense to me. Educate people to truly take care of themselves from the inside out and our healthcare burden would be much less.
One of the most memorable treatments I experienced during my travels was at a Japanese spa. I booked myself a nightingale dropping facial. Excuse me? What?
Yes, you heard me right. These UV sanitized droppings are used to bleach the skin and help inhibit melanocyte production which causes brown spots on the face and body.
In Costa Rica their rich coffee is not only for waking up the soul but is also used as a cellulite diminisher. Rub it on and wrap yourself in saran wrap for sixty minutes. You’ll definitely be able to tell a difference.
So many cultures to learn from.
As I embarked on educating myself in all things spa related, I realized how much my mind, body and soul were transformed. I learned that by achieving a greater mental and emotional balance one could lead a happier life. I learned about “self love” and how it’s so important to give yourself a dose or two of it on a daily basis.
For me, infusing wellness and spa into my travels is a must for my soul. It gives me a sense of renewal, inner calm and peacefulness.
There are an abundance of wellness destinations out there. Places that can heal your burdens. Where friendships, new or old, can be bound by the experience you are encountering. And places where you can challenge yourself and expand your inner boundaries. Go. Explore. Live Life.
And don’t forget to pack your “self love”.
